Notice that WitGUI can convert .wbfs, .iso, .wdf, .ciso and .wia file formats, adding, removing and extracting games to/from WBFS partitions.

Dios MiosLike Wii is, Wii U is capable to play Nintendo GameCube games, and because of that, it is also capable to play GameCube games backup thanks to diosmios.

DiosMios make possible to play GameCube backup from USB devices or directly from a SD card.

To install it:

Download the latest version of DiosMios on the official download page, with a wad manager.
Copy your game on the directory Games on a FAT32 partition #1 of a HDD (slot 0 on Wii) or a SD.
Run it thanks to a compatible loader (ie. USB Loader GX)

postloader 4.1.6

postloaderPostLoader is (yet) another loader for playing game backup on Wii U (vWii) but not only.

PostLoader can also browse homebrews with subfolder and xml support, channel/title with filters and cover.
It also can be used as a game loaders forwarder (for CFG, GX and WiiFlow) with cover and filters support.

Its latest version 4.1.6 is available on the official download page.


Hack Wii mode (vWii) on Wii U

wii-uThe Wii U embed the classic Wii as a standalone mode, and worst, infixed face to the complete hack scene of the Wii.
It’s so possible to hack the mode Wii also named vWii (virtual Wii) thanks to the classics Wii hacks to load Wii game backup.
Notice, for now, Wii U mode is still non hackable.

Important note:
Never use IOS, cIOS, Menu system, Menu system homebrew (Priiloader, Starpatch…), channel and so one for Wii to vWii and vice versa, else, you’ll definitively break you Wii / Wii U.

Use an exploit to install the homebrew channel (HBC) on the Wii U

In order to run homebrew, and to facilitate it later, to install homebrew channel, your first need to exploit a game failure, there are many of them, but each time, you’ll need the original CD.

Install HackMii Installer on Wii U

Download the HackMii Installer v1.2 and unzip it on your SD card (boot.elf must be on the root path of your SD card).

Run the exploit and the HackMii installer will start and install the Homebrew Channel (HBC). Once done, you’ll no longer the exploit and you’ll be able to start new homebrews directly from the Homebrew Channel (HBC) on you Wii U menu.

Copy game to a USB hard drive

Last step, download WiiBackupManager_Build78 or visit its official website to manage your games backup on a USB hard drive.


RetroArch for Wii U


Playing old school consoles on Wii U is possible thanks to a lot of emulators (Snes9X…).


RetroArch Console is a homebrew which contains main of them:

Install RetroArch on Wii U

Copy the entire directory (retroarch-wii) to your SD card in your ‘apps’ directory.
Start up the Homebrew Channel and start up RetroArch Wii from there.

On first startup, RetroArch will create a folder in the root of your storage device called ‘retroarch’. All RetroArch configuration files are stored here.

Use RetroArch on Wii U

On first startup, RetroArch will select one of the dozen or so emulator/game cores. The name of the core currently loaded will be shown at the bottom side of the screen.

You can now select a ROM that this core supports and load it in the Filebrowser.
To select a different core – go to the Settings menu (see ‘Ingame controls’).
Select the option ‘Core’ and hit the A button. A filebrowser will appear where you can select a different core. Press A to switch to the emulator/game core.

After doing so, select ‘Restart RetroArch’ to load the newly selected core.
